Hoppe, Bertha (27 AUG 1903)

The many friends in this city and vicinity of Mr. McKenzie Andrews, cashier at the Colby State Bank, were surprised to learn of his marriage to Miss Bertha Hoppe of Medford, last Thursday, Aug. 27th, 1903. McKenzie was very quiet about it, not even getting the permission from his most intimate friends, both they will all join the Phonograph in welcoming his bride to our city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), and wishing them both a long, prosperous and happy life The Medford Star-New contained the following:

"Miss Bertha Hoppe and Mr. McKenzie Andrews were married at the home of the bride last evening, in the presence of the family and a few friends. The Rev. P.F. Stair officiating in his usual happy way.

It was a very pretty affair, the home being decorated with palms and ferns in pleasing combination. The bride wore cream silk crepe, and carried pink roses. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ann, as bridesmaid, who wore a gown of white nuns veiling. Mr. Andrews wore a smile and a trim dress suit. Lionel Urquart, acting as best man, made up a picture which will be long remembered by those present. Following the ceremony congratulations were offered, after which a bounteous wedding supper was served. The table decorations were pink roses and smilax, the effect being decidedly pleasing.

After the repast the bride and groom were accompanied to the depot by all present, where they took the limited for Colby, their future home, amid a shower of rice and good wishes from all."
